COPD was associated with 119,000 deaths in 2000. The most commonly known COPD diseases
are chronic bronchitis, asthma, bronchiectasis, emphysema, and cystic fibrosis.
Universal Health Care has a free program for our members who have been diagnosed
with COPD. Members who are enrolled will receive periodic calls from our
nursing staff to reinforce the proper treatment plan and educate our members on
the early signs and symptoms of COPD. The nurses will discuss:
|
|
• Signs and symptoms
• Medications and medication adherence
• Doctor appointments
• Prevention of hospital admission
• Proper use of inhalers
• Adherence with Oxygen
